PolyU SPEED Student Team Bags Gold Award
in Personal Finance Ambassador Programme 2021/22
Six year-two students from five articulation honours degree programmes of PolyU SPEED formed a cross-discipline team to compete in the “Personal Finance Ambassador Programme 2021/22”. They stood out among 14 teams from tertiary institutions and universities and brought home the Gold Award for the Excellent Financial Education Project with a cash prize of HK$20,000.
This competition, co-organised by the HKEX Foundation Limited, the Investor and Financial Education Council, and St. James’ Settlement, aimed at enhancing tertiary students’ financial literacy. With the theme of “Digital Personal Finance” this year, the competing teams had joined a series of activities including an online day camp, project meetings and workshops before formulating a financial education project. They were also required to complete various tasks, such as promotional videos, website games, Instagram posts, questionnaires and interviews, and booth games, to promote educational information on digital personal finance to tertiary students.
The PolyU SPEED team “Finlosophy” eventually won the Gold Award. HKBU received the Silver Award, while HKU, HSUHK, EdUHK, and UOW College Hong Kong were each granted a Bronze Award.
When asked about their feelings, the winning team said, “It’s a great honour to have won the award. This event not only enriched our financial and investment knowledge but also enabled us to gain experience in different aspects, such as planning events and conducting questionnaires. What gave us the greatest fulfillment was that our activities did help tertiary students increase their financial knowledge and correct some misconceptions about personal finance.”
