Dr WONG, Kwong-cheong

Dr Wong received his PhD in Computational Linguistics from the University of Paris, France, having pioneered a topological approach to classifying conversations into different genres and formalised these genres in a computational framework. Dr Wong studied, for his master’s degrees, Mathematical Logic at The University of Manchester, Computer Science at the University of Oxford, and Linguistics at The University of Hong Kong. He also holds a BA degree in Philosophy from the University of London.
Prior to joining this institution, Dr Wong conducted research in Computational Logic at the Oxford University Computing Laboratory and the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA). Presently, Dr Wong teaches Artificial Intelligence and other subjects in Computing and Mathematics. He has twice been honoured with the Outstanding Teaching Award.
In research, Dr Wong integrates his knowledge from different disciplines to investigate Artificial Intelligence (especially Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computational Linguistics and Conversational AI) and Cognitive Science. He is a member of the Mind and Computation Research Group.
