16 Sep 2026
On 16 September 2026, PolyU CPCE’s Division of Languages and Communication invited representative from Rokid, a leading AI glasses company, to deliver a professional talk for students from the Master of Arts in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture programme’s AI Practices subject. Drawing on industry experience, the speaker introduced innovative applications of AI, augmented reality and digital content technologies in cultural tourism and public cultural services. Through case studies involving collaborations with museums and government agencies in mainland China, he demonstrated how technologies are transforming traditional modes of cultural presentation and creating brand new cultural experiences.
The AI Practices subject covers the fundamental principles of AI and explores multimodal technologies involving text, images, audio and 3D content. It examines emerging trends in visual design, audience analytics, cultural experience, AI agents and automation, as well as the media and creative industries. The subject also focuses on the applications and implications of generative AI in educational technology, media production, 3D content generation, and cultural experiences, encouraging students to reflect on how new technologies are reshaping media and cultural practices.
Dr Catherine Cheng, a lecturer of the AI Practices subject, noted that the sharing enabled the participants to gain deeper insights into innovative approaches to cultural presentation, cultural tourism experiences, and public cultural services through industry-academic collaborations in the cultural and creative sectors. They also developed a better understanding of user needs research, content planning, technology integration, and data privacy compliance. The session not only helped students appreciate how AI is driving innovation across the education and cultural sectors, but also inspired them to reflect on the future evolution of media and cultural professions, as well as the opportunities arising from the integration of technology and humanities.
