Send Forth Second Cohort of Over 380 Graduates

The School of Professional Education and Executive Development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU SPEED) has been appointed by the Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) to offer PMSA Specified Courses which aim to assist provisional property management practitioners in applying for a formal license. A graduation ceremony was held recently at the PolyU Hung Hom Bay Campus to send forth the second cohort of over 380 graduates – a professional workforce conducive to the professionalisation of the property management industry.

Graduates Working at Citybase Property Management Limited and Goodwell Property Management Limited

Starting from 1 August 2020, the PMSA has implemented a licensing regime to professionalise property management practitioners and the industry as a whole. In his remarks at the graduation ceremony, Mr Tony Tse Wai-chuen, PMSA Chairperson, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to PolyU SPEED for organising Specified Courses and being the first institution offering enterprise-based training to ensure that there are enough Specified Courses for provisional property management practitioners to take so as to satisfy the requirements of the licensing regime and transitional arrangements.”

The second cohort of the Specified Courses was very well received, with the number of students increased by more than 80 compared with the first cohort.  These students include  current employees of the Citybase Property Management Limited and Goodwell Property Management Limited of CK Asset Holdings Limited, proving that property management companies are very supportive of their employees’ pursuit of continuing education to get the license. Dr Justin Chiu Kwok-hung, Executive Director of CK Asset Holdings Limited, showed his support for the graduates by giving a speech at the graduation ceremony.

Dr Simon Cheung Tsuen-Yuen, Head of Continuing Education of the Continuing Education Office of PolyU SPEED, was excited to witness the graduates’ hard work pay off, “I wish every one of you could bring what you’ve learned back to the workplace, show your professionalism, and continue your contribution to the professionalisation of the property management industry so as to provide every citizen with a safe and comfortable living environment.”

Courses Pitched at Qualifications Framework Level 4

Taught by PolyU SPEED lecturers, seasoned industry professionals, surveyors and lawyers, the PMSA Specified Courses (Tier 1 and Tier 2) at PolyU SPEED are pitched at Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Level 4 and included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. Among the course graduates were five participants over 70, whose participation amply underpinned the importance and spirit of lifelong learning.
