08 Mar 2021
The School of Professional Education and Executive Development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU SPEED) is pleased to announce that the following PolyU SPEED engineering degree programmes have recently obtained accreditation from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE):
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Building Engineering and Management (BEM)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical Engineering (EE)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering (ME)
How Will Students Benefit from HKIE Accreditation?
Dr Jack Lo, Director of PolyU SPEED, said the HKIE accreditation has not only affirmed the quality of PolyU SPEED articulation honours degree programmes, but also greatly facilitated its engineering graduates’ career development as professional engineers.
“Students who successfully complete any of the above engineering degree programmes will be eligible to undergo Scheme ‘A’ graduate training in an engineering company approved by the HKIE – a fast track “formal training route” where it is possible for our graduates to become a professional engineer after graduation in a minimum of 4 years. The general experience route, on the other hand, takes a minimum of 6 years,” explained Dr Lo.
The following chart illustrates the two routes to becoming a professional engineer in a targeted discipline.
