MA in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture Students Explore Generative AI Applications at Hotel ICON

Students from PolyU SPEED’s MA in Chinese Creative Writing and Media Culture programme recently visited Hotel ICON to explore how AI is transforming hospitality operations and marketing.

A highlight of the visit was Hotel ICON’s AI-driven content model, developed in collaboration with PolyU, which demonstrated how generative AI can streamline content creation, enhance audience engagement and support digital marketing. Students are also encouraged to reflect on the importance of human judgment in AI-assisted content production.

The visit complemented the teaching of Dr Catherine Cheng, Lecturer in PolyU CPCE’s Division of Languages and Communication, whose courses explore the application of generative AI in media and creative industries. Her teaching covers areas such as AI-assisted content creation, digital communication, and human-AI collaboration. Through industry engagement and experiential learning, the Division equips students with AI literacy, critical thinking and practical skills for the evolving digital and creative industries.
