Send Forth About 380 Graduates in Third Cohort

 

The School of Professional Education and Executive Development of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU SPEED) has been appointed by the Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) to offer PMSA Specified Courses which aim to assist provisional property management practitioners in applying for a formal license. A graduation ceremony was held at the PolyU Hung Hom Bay Campus on 29 July 2023 to send forth the third cohort of 376 graduates.

Starting from 1 August 2020, the PMSA has implemented a licensing regime to professionalise property management practitioners and the industry as a whole. In the past three years, PolyU SPEED’s PMSA Specified Courses have sent forth more than 1,050 graduates, serving as a significant driving force in promoting the professionalisation of property management in Hong Kong.

Dr James Wong Kong-tin, PMSA Chairperson, said in his speech at the ceremony that PolyU SPEED played an important role in the smooth implementation of the property management industry licensing system. “Being the first institution offering enterprise-based Specified Courses for the industry, PolyU SPEED is committed to providing tailor-made courses with sufficient places for the market so as to assist experienced industry practitioners in obtaining the qualifications to apply for a formal property management license through completing these Specified Courses.”  

Dr Simon Cheung, Head of Continuing Education, Continuing Education Office, College of Professional and Continuing Education of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, encouraged graduates to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in their future careers and bring new vitality and changes to Hong Kong’s property management industry with their professional attitude and innovative thinking.

Dr Cheung also announced that PolyU SPEED has appointed Mr Suen Kwok-Lam, Executive Director of Henderson Land Development Company Limited, The Honourable Tony Tse Wai-chuen (Architectural, Surveying, Planning and Landscape Functional Constituency), and Mr Stephen Yuen Ching-bor, Founding Chairperson of Property Management Industry Training Advisory Committee, Qualifications Framework as the Honorary Advisors for the “Professional Certificate in Property and Asset Management (I) & (II)” courses to be launched in 2023. They will offer advice to ensure that the curriculum design caters to market needs and development.

PMSA Specified Courses Pitched at Qualifications Framework Level 4
Taught by lecturers, seasoned industry professionals, surveyors and lawyers, the PMSA Specified Courses (Tier 1 and Tier 2) offered by PolyU SPEED are pitched at Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Level 4 and included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. 

New Courses Meet Industry Licensing Requirements
PolyU SPEED is planning to launch the "Professional Certificate in Property and Asset Management (I) and (II)” courses in Q4 of 2023 to enhance students’ property management capabilities so that they can meet the industry license requirements. These courses are pitched at Hong Kong Qualifications Framework Level 5 and included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. After completing these two courses, graduates will be regarded as possessing a specified academic qualification equivalent to a specified property management degree (applicable to PMP (Tier 1) License).
