Aims and Objectives

The programme is taught by faulty members of PolyU SPEED and qualified professionals. Students of this programme will learn the necessary knowledge and skills for developing websites at the front-end and supporting programs and database at the back-end. They will also learn about multimedia technology for the internet and how to design and implement e-commerce strategies. In addition, students will also acquire knowledge on Management Information Systems, Enterprise Cloud Computing, and Computer Security. Electives include Mobile Application Development, Foundations of Animation and Artificial Intelligence etc.

CEF This course has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund. The mother course [Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences (Information Systems and Web Technologies)] of this module is recognised under the Qualifications Framework (QF Level 5).

Entrance Requirements

Holder of a recognised Associate Degree, Higher Diploma or equivalent qualification in related disciplines.  Applicants from unrelated disciplines will also be considered and, if admitted, are required to take appropriate foundation subject(s).



  1. The main medium of instruction of the study programme concerned should be English.  Applicant who has completed the programme with other languages as the main medium of instruction should attain the following English Language requirement: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (paper based); 80 (Internet based).
  2. An applicant who does not possess the above-mentioned qualification but has reached the age of 25 before 1 September, in the year in which he/she seeks admission, may apply as a mature applicant.  A mature applicant should possess relevant work experience in senior positions and is expected to have completed some post-secondary studies in related fields. He/she will also be required to pass an admission test and demonstrate to the Admission Interview Panel his/her ability to complete the programme.  In addition, he/she may be required to take appropriate foundation subject(s).

Professional Recognition

Students can join the Hong Kong College of Community Health Practitioners (HKCCHP) as student members, and, upon graduation, can advance to the Associate Fellowship (AFHKCCHP) status.

Students are also eligible to apply for Student Membership with the ISACA (previously known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and Hong Kong Computer Society (HKCS).

Career Prospects

This programme equips students with the requisite skills and competencies which will enable them to work as website developers, IT support, network administrator and database support.
