Career Prospects

• The current spatial and interior design market in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) is dynamic, with Hong Kong serving as a hub for high-end services and talent. Graduates will find exciting career opportunities in spatial and interior design, with roles available such as interior designer, spatial designer, project designer, project coordinator, furniture and furnishing designer, designers in spatial identity, urban designer, landscape designer, exhibition designer, lighting designer and retail designer.

Further Study Opportunities

• Graduates can pursue postgraduate studies in famous local and overseas universities, such as master's degrees in the areas of Transitional Environments Design, Interior  Design, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture.

• Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA)

Graduates of the programme with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the industry can apply for full membership of Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA). After passing the Panel Review and completing the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses organised by the HKIDA, full members of the HKIDA will be awarded as Certified Interior Designers.

• Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA)

Graduates with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience can apply for Professional Membership of Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA).
 

Students are required to complete the following requirements with satisfactory results for an honours degree:

Notes:

1. Students who have not met the equivalent standard of undergraduate degree Language and Communication Requirements (LCR) under GUR during their prior studies in an Associate Degreee / Higher Diploma programme are required to take up to 9 additional credits in LCR, including 2 subjects in English and 1 subject in Chinese of 3 credits each.  They are English for Academic Studies I, English for Academic Studies II and Chinese Communication for College Students / Elementary Chinese. The additional credit / subject requirements will be reflected on the "My Graduation Requirements" accessible from the Student Portal as the programme commencement approaches. Students concerned are required to pay additional fees after programme commencement.  

2. Students admitted from unrelated disciplines will be required to take up to 2 additional foundation subjects if they have not completed similar subjects before admission.  The additional credit / subject requirements will be reflected on the "My Graduation Requirements" accessible from the Student Portal as the programme commencement approaches. Students concerned are required to pay additional fees after programme commencement.  

3. Relevant work experience accumulated during or after sub-degree studies may be considered for fulfilment of WIE.  Students will be invited to submit application for consideration after programme commencement.

4. Individual students who have not fulfilled the English language requirements before admission are required to take an additional Adjunct English subject (3 credits).  Please refer to the "Entrance Requirements" section for details.  The additional credit / subject requirements will be reflected on the "My Graduation Requirements" accessible from the Student Portal as the programme commencement approaches. Students concerned are required to pay additional fees after programme commencement.

Holder of a recognised Associate Degree, Higher Diploma or equivalent qualification in disciplinary-related areas. Applicants from non-disciplinary-related areas will also be considered and, if admitted, are required to take appropriate foundation subject(s).

 Notes:

1. An applicant who is not a native speaker of English, and does not possess an Associate Degree or a Higher Diploma or an equivalent qualification for which English was the primary medium of instruction, is expected to fulfil the following minimum English language requirements:

   i) An overall Band Score of 6.0 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); OR

   ii) A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 for the Internet-based test / 550 for the paper-based test; OR

   iii) Satisfactory results in other recognised English language assessments

   Individual cases may be considered on their own merit, and applicants concerned may be required to take an additional 3-credit Adjunct English subject upon admission.

2. An applicant who does not possess the above-mentioned qualification but has reached the age of 25 before 1 September, in the academic year in which he/she seeks admission, may apply as a mature applicant. He/she must demonstrate sufficient motivation, knowledge and potential to indicate a high probability of being able to complete the programme successfully. In addition, he/she may be required to take appropriate foundation subject(s).
