Academic Research Achievements of PolyU SPEED Students in Hospitality Management

PolyU SPEED 款待業管理同學取得學術研究成就

 

To enhance the opportunity for faculty members and students to discuss innovative research and trends of global hospitality and tourism, PolyU-affiliated CPCE, with its educational units PolyU SPEED and PolyU HKCC, joined the prestigious international conference “3rd Global Tourism & Hospitality Conference” as a platinum sponsor. The conference, held at Hotel ICON during 5-7 June 2017, was hosted by School of Hotel and Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. A total of eight CPCE academics and four PolyU SPEED students participated in the conference.

 

During the conference, four PolyU SPEED students of BA (Hons) in Hospitality Management and their advisors presented the findings of their Integrated Study (IS) projects under the Undergraduate Best Paper Award session. Their research topics include the following:

 

  • “An exploratory study of exhibitor perspective of green exhibition in Hong Kong”
    Authors: Hong Ka Ling (PolyU SPEED student) and Dr Pamela Ho (PolyU HKCC Lecturer)
  • “The motivation factors influencing event participation: A case study of a MICE event in Hong Kong”
    Authors: Tam Chi Kit (PolyU SPEED student) and Dr Chammy Lau (PolyU HKCC Lecturer)
  • “The relationship between residents’ awareness of corporate social responsibilities (CSR) activities (in terms of community relation and environmental issue) in the Ocean Park Hong Kong and their revisiting intention”
    Authors: Mak Cheuk Hung (PolyU SPEED student) and Dr Bruce Tsui (PolyU SPEED Lecturer)
  • “Effect of food ordering methods on service quality and customer satisfaction in the chain tea restaurants in Hong Kong”
    Authors: Zhang Jiarong (PolyU SPEED student) and Dr Pimtong Tavitiyaman (PolyU SPEED Senior Lecturer)

 

Dr Jack Lo, PolyU SPEED Director, received the sponsorship certificate from Prof. Kaye Chon, Dean of PolyU School of Hotel and Tourism Management, at the gala dinner of the conference on 7 June. Moreover, Dr Lo extended his congratulations to PolyU SPEED student Hong Ka Ling and her advisor Dr Pamela Ho on winning the “Community Impact Award”, which recognised undergraduate students for their research demonstrating great potential for social impact.
