International Conference Marking the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region “Retrospect and Prospect on Public Policies, Administration and Management”

An international conference was held on the PolyU Hung Hom Bay campus on 19 May 2017. The conference was organised by the Hong Kong Public Administration Association (HKPAA) in collaboration with the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and its constituent units – School of Professional Education & Executive Development (SPEED) and Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) – to mark the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Based on the theme of “Retrospect and Prospect on Public Policies, Administration and Management”, the Conference assembled academics, policy researchers, and public administrators from the USA, UK, Switzerland, Singapore, Macau, and Hong Kong to present their research papers.
It is the great pleasure of the Conference to invite Prof. Frederick Ma Si-hang, Chairman of MTR Corporation, as the guest of honour to share his views on “Hong Kong’s Economy: Present & Future”. This was followed by the keynote speech by Prof. Tang Shui-yan, Professor at University of Southern California in the USA, on “Reconsidering Governance Reform in China: Implications for Hong Kong”. Other invited speakers for the plenary session were Prof. Jon Quah, Consultant in Singapore, Dr. Lichia Saner-Yiu, President of Centre for Socio-Eco-Nomic Development (CSEND) in Switzerland, Prof. Lui Tai-lok, Vice President (Research & Development), of The Education University of Hong Kong, and Prof. Sonny Lo, Deputy Director (Arts and Sciences) of The University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education. There were also parallel sessions on environment and housing, education, health, and public policies.
