PolyU SPEED and Tung Wah College Join Forces on Primary Healthcare Policy Research

A well-developed primary healthcare system is the backbone of a healthy society. PolyU SPEED is committed to forging inter-institutional partnerships to advance this crucial field.
PolyU SPEED and Tung Wah College (TWC) are collaborating on a funded research project titled “Shaping Primary Healthcare Policy – Application of the Primary Health Care Performance Initiative (PHCPI)”.This project, supported by a grant of HK$352,000 from the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme under the Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector 2024/25 of the Research Grants Council, aims to:
- examine the challenges and opportunities in stakeholder engagement for primary healthcare policy development
- promote knowledge exchange in the Asia-Pacific region
- apply PHCPI to enhance healthcare systems, and
- nurture future healthcare professionals
Representatives from the two institutions recently held a meeting regarding this research project, including (pictured from left to right) Dr Fowie Ng, Associate Professor of TWC, Prof. Lorna Suen, Dean and Professor of TWC, Dr Ben Fong, Associate Division Head of the Division of Science, Engineering and Health Studies (SEHS) of PolyU CPCE, Prof. Sally Chan, President of TWC, Prof. Peter Yuen, Dean of PolyU CPCE, Dr KarlyC han, Senior Lecturer of SEHS, Dr Oscar Chiu, Senior Lecturer of SEHS, and Mr Tommy Ng, Project Associate.
We hope that the collaboration between the two parties can help promote more effective primary healthcare policy.
