Future Prospects

Career Prospects

  • The current spatial and interior design market in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) is dynamic, with Hong Kong serving as a hub for high-end services and talent. Graduates will find exciting career opportunities in spatial and interior design, with roles available such as interior designer, spatial designer, project designer, project coordinator, furniture and furnishing designer, designers in spatial identity, urban designer, landscape designer, exhibition designer, lighting designer and retail designer.

 

Further Study Opportunities

  • Graduates can pursue postgraduate studies in famous local and overseas universities, such as master's degrees in the areas of Transitional Environments Design, Interior  Design, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture.

Professional Recognition

  • Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA)

Graduates of the programme with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in the industry can apply for full membership of Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA). After passing the Panel Review and completing the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses organised by the HKIDA, full members of the HKIDA will be awarded as Certified Interior Designers.

 

  • Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA)

Graduates with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience can apply for Professional Membership of Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA).
 

Programme Structure

The programme of study consists of at least 120 credits. All students are also required to complete 300 hours of non-credit-bearing Work-Integrated Education component.

Entrance Requirements

For HKDSE qualification holders:

  • Level 3 in Chinese Language and English Language;
  • Level 2 in Mathematics;
  • “Attained” level in Citizenship and Social Development; and
  • Level 2 or “Attained” level in one elective.

 

For holders of other qualifications:  

  • The equivalents of the above requirements.

 

For those who do not possess the above-mentioned qualifications but have reached the age of 25 before 1 September in the admission year, they may apply as “mature” applicants. They must demonstrate sufficient motivation, knowledge and potential to indicate a high probability of being able to complete the programme successfully.
