Student and Alumni Stories

In today’s increasingly complex social environment, I have come to realise that social workers need not only professional knowledge and practical skills, but also the ability to reflect critically and respond sensitively to social issues. Bachelor of Social Work (Hons) programme at SPEED, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, equipped me with professional and evidence-informed practice while deepening my understanding of the mission and values of social work through interdisciplinary learning. Beyond learning how to practise, the programme encouraged me to reflect on why we practise in certain ways. It helped me understand service users’ experiences within their broader social context and develop a more holistic professional perspective, providing a strong foundation for my future career in social work.
