PolyU SPEED students strive to thrive in competitions under the new normal. Three year-two students of BA (Hons) in Business (Operations and Supply Chain Management) won the first-runner up award in the “2021 Hong Kong Logistics Case Contest” organised by Hong Kong Logistics Association on 27 March 2021.
The contest attracted 27 teams formed by tertiary institutions including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, PolyU SPEED, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, and UOW College Hong Kong.
He Yawei, Li Po-ying, and Ng Chung-ching, year-two students of BA (Hons) in Business (Operations and Supply Chain Management), received the first-runner up award with their well-thought-out plan to help a logistics company come up with cost-effective and innovative ideas for redesigning and enhancing its current inbound logistics workflow, such as the introduction of automated data entry.
Chung-ching said the contest was a valuable opportunity for them to apply what they had learnt from lectures into a real case. They not only sharpened their presentation skills but also got a chance to meet with students from other colleges and people in the logistics field.
“During the contest, we learnt that ‘well begun is half success’. It was a great chance to understand the issues and problems in the logistics field. We were happy that our hard work paid off eventually,” said Po-ying.
The winning team also wants to express their gratitude to Dr Simon Yuen, Award Leader, for his encouragement and guidance during the contest.
