PolyU CPCE AI Solutions Week 2026 Empowers Students to Apply AI to Learning, Creativity and Career Development

PolyU CPCE held PolyU CPCE AI Solutions Week 2026 from 15 to 18 September 2026 at the PolyU West Kowloon Campus, providing students with hands-on opportunities to explore practical applications of artificial intelligence in learning, creativity, productivity and career development.

Exploring Practical Applications of AI in Student Learning 
Under the theme “Imagine Your Student Life with Gemini Enterprise”, the event encouraged students to activate and experience Google Gemini Enterprise for Education using their PolyU CPCE accounts. With assistance from booth ambassadors, students activated their accounts and submitted their first prompts to explore how AI could help them understand complex concepts, prepare for examinations, write reports, develop project ideas and polish their CVs.

The event forms part of PolyU CPCE’s ongoing efforts to advance AI-augmented teaching, learning and research. Earlier this year, PolyU CPCE established an educational partnership with Google Cloud Hong Kong, becoming the first tertiary institution in the Asia-Pacific region to deploy Gemini Pro 3 at the largest scale in higher education. Students of PolyU SPEED and PolyU HKCC now have access to Gemini Enterprise-related tools, while AI Solutions Week serves as a platform for exploring how artificial intelligence can be used ethically, responsibly and effectively in learning and future careers.

Student Challenge Encourages Responsible AI Use
The event also featured the “Imagine with Gemini Enterprise Student Challenge”. Participants completed the sentence “Gemini Enterprise for Education can help me…” and explained in 50 to 100 words how AI could enhance their learning experience at PolyU CPCE. Entries were assessed for practical value, creativity, relevance to student life and clarity of expression.

Three Winning Entries Demonstrate Diverse Perspectives on AI 
Three students were selected as winners. First Prize winner Gao Jishen, a student of PolyU HKCC’s Associate in Engineering programme, emphasised that AI should help students turn understanding into genuine mastery by asking questions and providing alternative explanations, visuals or examples, rather than simply supplying answers. 

Second Prize winner Fok Kam-wing, from PolyU SPEED’s Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Surveying programme, drew on the authentic experience of studying while travelling by MTR to an evening class at the West Kowloon Campus, showing how AI could support research while leaving analysis and writing to the student. 

Third Prize winner Mak Chun-wai, a student of PolyU HKCC’s Higher Diploma in Social Work programme, proposed using NotebookLM in social work studies to organise lecture notes, create revision materials, practise interviews with service users and manage time, while anonymising service-user information and retaining professional judgement.

Together, the winning entries demonstrated a mature understanding of AI as a tool for strengthening learning, improving efficiency and inspiring creativity, rather than replacing independent thought or professional judgement.

At the award presentation on 18 September 2026, Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, Director of PolyU SPEED and Associate Dean (Information and Development) and Head of Information Technology of PolyU CPCE, presented the awards.

Dr Jason Chan, MH, JP, said: “AI education is not simply about giving students access to new technology. More importantly, it is about empowering them to use AI responsibly, critically and creatively. The winning entries show that our students do not see AI as a substitute for thinking, but as a tool for deepening understanding, improving learning effectiveness and supporting professional training. Through AI Solutions Week and our educational partnership with Google Cloud, we hope to equip students with the AI capabilities they need for further study and the future workplace.”

During the four-day event, students also learned about AI and technology solutions presented by participating enterprises, including Alibaba Cloud, Adobe, Dell, Sangfor and OutSystems.

PolyU CPCE AI Solutions Week 2026 reflects the College’s continuing efforts to integrate technology into learning and teaching. It also encourages students to develop a responsible approach to AI and use it as a practical tool for learning, creativity and personal development.

Programme: PolyU SPEED’s Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Surveying 
Summary: Set against a commute by MTR to an evening Contract Law class at the West Kowloon Campus, the entry conveyed a responsible approach through the line: “AI does the research. I think and write.”
Main strength: Creativity and an authentic student-life scenario
Prize: Apple AirPods Pro 3

Third Prize
