- Offers a coherent and innovative curriculum that integrates scheme-level training in life and environmental sciences, with hands on laboratory work and opportunities for research-related activities.
- Builds a strong foundation through common science subjects and allows students to deepen in specialised life sciences areas aligned with current and emerging STEM trends.
- Emphasises interdisciplinary STEM skills, including data analytics/AI in science, standards for testing and certification, green and environmental chemistry, ESG in science, and innovation and technology management to address global challenges in health, sustainability and the environment.
- Responds to growing demand for scientifically trained professionals by equipping graduates with practical competencies in laboratory techniques, instrumental analysis, toxicology, nutrition and diseases, and quality systems relevant to testing and certification sectors.
- Provides learning experiences that support scholarly engagement, such as integrated applied science studies, research methodology training, and supervised projects that may lead to presentations or publications.

Professional Recognition
Students can join the Hong Kong College of Community Health Practitioners (HKCCHP) as student members, and, upon graduation, can advance to the Associate Fellowship (AFHKCCHP) status.

Future Prospects
- Graduates will be well prepared for a broad spectrum of science related positions in both public and private sectors, including roles such as laboratory technician or technologist, technical officer, research assistant, pest and vector control officer, environmental or sustainability assistant/consultant, testing and certification personnel, and pharmaceutical or medical product sales and support positions.
- Training in professional communication, ethics, standards and regulatory awareness further enhances graduates’ readiness to work in multidisciplinary teams and in regulated science and health related environments.
Further Study Opportunities
Graduates will be suitably prepared to articulate to postgraduate programmes in life sciences, environmental science, public and community health, biotechnology, environmental management, and related STEM disciplines in local and overseas institutions.
Programme Structure
The programme of study consists of at least 120 credits. All students are also required to complete 300 hours of non-credit-bearing Work-Integrated Education component.

Entrance Requirements
For HKDSE qualification holders:
- Level 3 in Chinese Language and English Language;
- Level 2 in Mathematics;
- “Attained” level in Citizenship and Social Development; and
- Level 2 or “Attained” level in one elective subject
Subject Preference:
- Level 2 in one of extended modules in Mathematics; and
- Level 2 in Biology or Chemistry or Physics or Combined Science
For holders of other qualifications:
- The equivalents of the above requirements.
For those who do not possess the above-mentioned qualifications but have reached the age of 25 before 1 September in the admission year, they may apply as “mature” applicants. They must demonstrate sufficient motivation, knowledge and potential to indicate a high probability of being able to complete the programme successfully.
